System-on-Chip (SoC)

"Integrated circuit density doubles every eighteen months."
Moore's Law

To overcome the challenges and realize the opportunities presented by Moore's Law, the industry is focusing its attention on the emerging Systems-on-a-Chip (SoC) design methodology which incorporates pre-designed components (virtual components), also called SoC Intellectual Property (SoC-IP).

While the challenges of designing each of the integrated virtual components is significant enough, the task of  verifying the design as a whole is even more challenging. The methodology used to verify multi-million gate designs has a direct effect on the chances of first pass success, schedule (i.e. time to profit) and non-recurring engineering (NRE) costs. Relying upon traditional vector-slice based verification approaches are inadequate in this new design arena.

Multi-Disciplined Teams
Integrating a processor, digital signal processor, peripherals, memory and control logic in addition to the application specific embedded software requires a team of seasoned professional experienced in each of those disciplines and the understanding of how all of the pieces come together into a whole.

Couple all of that with rapidly emerging technologies and reduced geometries pushing 65nm in 2006 and 45nm for 2007 and you can easily appreciate the need for having an experienced team on your side.

Platforms Speed SoC Integration
The Intrinsix verification teams are experts in complex ASIC and system verification. Our extensive experience in designing processor-based SoC has allowed our teams to pioneer the development of transactor-based hardware and software SoC verification methodologies.

Our SoC verification team understands which tools and methodologies to apply at the appropriate time based upon the types of designs and application areas being addressed. We do not believe in a "one size fits all" methodology. Rather, we use appropriate tools where needed.

Our verification services include:

  • Verification Requirements Specification Development

  • Detailed ASIC and sub-module verification plans

  • Build Environments

  • Regression test environments

  • SoC verification environments

  • Verification Developers Kit-based environments

  • Code Coverage Analysis

  • Traditional testbench development

  • Design Reviews / Code Reviews

  • Source Code Control Environments
