Intrinsix AMBA

SoC Platform

The Intrinsix AMBA SoC platform is a full computing platform which forms the processing core of a System-on-Chip IC.  It is well suited for high integration, low power applications, and can be extended to include custom digital and analog processing for a target application.

The platform is comprised of the following components:

  • ARM7TDMI CPU with AMBA Wrapper (including TIC logic)

  • Tightly coupled SRAM/Boot ROM

  • AHB Arbiter with up to 15 Masters

  • AHB Decoder

  • AHB Master to Slave MUX

  • AHB Slave to Master MUX

  • AHB to APB Bridge

  • AHB Interrupt Controller

  • AHB General Purpose I/O

  • AHB Flash/SRAM Controller

  • APB 16550 Compatible UART with IR Timing Support

  • APB Timer/PWM supporting 3 Independent Timers

  • APB SPI Controller

  • APB I2C Controller

  • APB I2S Controller

  • APB Verification Component

  • AHB Verification Component

  • ARM AMBA Self Checking Verification Environment

  • ARM SoC Platform Verification Suite

The platform is supplied with Intrinsix designed and proven IP.  However any AHB/APB compliant peripheral (e.g. ARM prime cell) can easily be integrated into the design.  Customer or Intrinsix designed Application Specific Logic can also be integrated into the platform.

The platform includes a boot software kernel that performs power on self-test (POST) for the tightly coupled RAM, APB peripherals, and checksum validation of external FLASH.  The kernel also provides a boot loader function which allows code to be downloaded into the on-board RAM via the UART or SPI interfaces, and provides an easy integration point for inclusion of proprietary applications.

The entire platform (with the exception of the ARM7 and internal SRAM/ROM) is supplied as synthesizable RTL that may be easily customized to fit the required application.

For examples of the AMBA platform in application specific configurations, see the following Application Notes:
