Network Platform

links has multiplied by orders of magnitude. It is projected that within ten years, the amount of data traffic will far exceed the amount of voice traffic by almost an order of magnitude. Carriers are continuing to add capacity in an attempt to keep up with demand. Yet bandwidth requirements are nearly doubling every six months.

We enable our customers to lead the market in offering terabit routers, gigabit switches, optical networks, high-speed local, metropolitan and wide area networks. We have engineered Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), digital subscriber lines (xDSL), wireless communications and home networking solutions.

Network Products Design Teams

Intrinsix has established Network Products Design Teams to act as focal points for the development of advanced network platforms servicing this market segment.

The team has successfully designed data link layer products including Ethernet/Fast Ethernet MACs, both full/half duplex, collision management and n-way auto-negotiation. In addition, we are experienced with gigabit MAC design, including auto-negotiation, flow control and 8b/10b running disparity management. Intrinsix Network Projects Group has experience designing, conformance testing and verifying 10/100/1000 Base Ethernet Physical Layer devices. We have experience in MDI, PMD, PMA and PCS Layers and have implemented designs that support both full and half duplex.

Most network enabled electronic product designs focus their performance around high-speed ASIC's using the latest fabrication technologies and geometries. Our product design teams have experience in network system architecture design, hardware-software tradeoff analysis, high-end ASIC design, System-on-chip development, protocol development, network processor implementation and programming in addition to complete turnkey network rack board, ASIC and software integration and validation testing.

We understand the issues and the standards

The three most pressing issues today are performance, scalability and quality of service. Performance is a key concern particularly in the delivery of real time voice over IP, and video teleconferencing where QoS and latency can make or break a market.

Intrinsix Network Project team members have in-depth knowledge of current and emerging industry standards including:

  • 802.3 Data Link and Physical Layers
  • Packet Reception and Forwarding Paths
  • Packet Transmission, Data & Control Paths
  • Frame Processor and Application Processor Functionality
  • QoS Functionality and Implementation Methodology

Network System Experience

  • Terabit Routers
  • PPP over SONET (OC-3, OC-12, OC-48 )
  • 16-port ATM Router (OC-3,OC-12)
  • 16-port Ethernet

Network Verification Expertise

The verification engineers in the networking group have in depth knowledge of network equipment architectures and can pin-point design corner cases. Our additional capabilities include:
  • Module, chip and system level strategies that maximize test and code reuse
  • HDL and C based transactors for industry standard network interfaces including: 802.3, SONET, Utopia, PCI and RAMBUS interface protocols
  • Directed and randomized verification and test design
